Hi,

I have actually ran in to the same thing. If you are using a singel server the script will do everything for you. The Provision thing is to provisioning out the settings to all your WFEs in the farm. I got this problem after Windows Management Framework Core was added to the server from "central IT" When I removed it, it started to work. So there is something with the upgrade of PowerShell or version of PowerShell that causes this problem. I'm actually having a MS case around this so all the info from you would be highly appriciated. What OS are you running, SharePoint version and number of servers in the farm.

Thanks

Great post - I've used this script to extend a web app and it works except for the very last line - where PowerShell always throws up this error
"Exception calling "Provision" with "0" argument(s): "Root element is missing."
At C:\Documents and Settings\dev-jread\My Documents\Extend_Webapp.ps1:68 char:32
+ $ExtendWebApplication.Provision( <<<< )"

Yet the script seems to work - website created etc

Any ideas on what is going on?

Thanks
